I've seen this played live in person twice and each time I did not think it could get more intense or rise higher. And it does- this is the most astonishing compsoiiton every written, inversions and intensity and abnormal behind-the-beat rhythms. And this version is superb!

Your bass is too LOUD!!!! So just about perfect.

Nicely done, Marco. Always interesting to see how Vander transforms the phrasing over time, (like at 6:00-7:00), this is complicated even though it sounds easy. Cannot wait to see you capture the bass playing at around 17-20minutes of the original live version- very hard and fast playing!

Hello Marco, nice work, and as you of course know : Zebehn Strain de Geustah ! or something with the same effect (and nice FX they are !). I'm playing in a mostly afrobeat kinda band, but I have terrorized my band into playing loads of strange things, Hortz fur de Stekehn West being one of them. Super que des jeunes musiciens comme toi s'intéresse à MAGMA ! J'ai un peu connu Christian Vander qui m'avait beaucoup influencé dans les années 1975 (j'ai 66ans) je lui demandais des conseils au club le Riverbop j'ai joué beaucoup de jazz rock et ,jazz fusion (avec pas mal de bassiste comme Etienne M'Bappé qui à débuté dans ces années 80 ...Guy N' Sangué , Thierry Mineau (qui jouait très bien très jeune , écoute son album "PARIS " avec entre autre Billy Cobham ) David Jacob de Trust (avec le groupe P.vibes fusion-rock) Pascal Teillet avec le pianiste C.Terranova et Guillaume Naturel (saxo) il joue avec speed Caravan group) et j'ai joué avec l'organiste de jazz Rhoda Scott en duo Gilles Renne (Guitare ) Stephane Guery (guitare) et des centaines d'autres musiciens . tu joue très bien cette musique assez complexe qui contient de nombreuses parties et mesures impaires je crois ...j'enseigne toujours un peu la batterie (je possede 5 prix en batterie et percus classiques) tu as du bosser dur pour assimiler ce morceau tellement original ! et complexe mais qui s'écoute assez facilement car les parties sont superbement enchainées... j'ai vu MAGMA deux fois sur scene , avec Didier Lockwood , c'était vraiment fantastique avec Bernard Paganotti (dit PAGA ) tous les bassistes de Magma sont des top ! Philippe Bussonnet ! est formidable et actuellement c'est le fils de Jannick Top qui joue la basse, excellent d'après mon ami Gérard Salmiéri pianiste et batteur, le frere de Claude qui a joué avec Magma a la batterie aussi) j'habite dans le 91 , si un jour tu veux passer me voir ce sera avec plaisir , tu joues vraiment avec goût cette musique ! bravo ! >>> video de moi de 2007 >>>ua-cam.com/video/ag6t69wRS60/v-deo.html tu peux me contacter sur Facebook etc. bonne continuation et viva MAGMA !
